7 juill. 1937 - Japan and China at War

Description:

Since 1931, the Japanese Empire had slowly been invading the Republic of China due to the rise of Japanese nationalism, as well as the need for more raw materials to support their industry.

China at the time was suffering from its own internal conflicts and so could do nothing really to stop the Japanese invasion. By the late 1930s, Japan occupied the majority of north-eastern China and established a puppet state called Manchukuo.

Following a four-year truce, the Japanese resumed their invasion of China in 1937. After a small shoot-out just outside of Beijing, a full war erupted which saw the massacre of thousands of both soldiers and civilians.
