6 janv. 1543 - Heliocentric and Geocentric Theories

Description:

The heliocentric theory was the new idea that the sun was the center of the universe, and everything revolved around it. The common theory that the Church believed in was the geocentric theory. The geocentric theory was the idea that the earth was the center of everything, and everything revolved around the earth. Ptolemy was a scientist who believed in the geocentric theory and had the same opinion as the church about what was in the center of the universe. Copernicus was the scientist who stepped out and preached his discovery, even when it was a dangerous time to disagree with the Church. Copernicus ended up being correct, and he helped start the Scientific Revolution. Copernicus’ discovery was very important because it encouraged people to branch out and do their own research and thinking, instead of letting the Church think for them.
