While Emmett was hanging out with his friends, he bragged that he had a white girlfriend back home. To prove it, they dared him to go flirt with a white woman. He did, but once the woman's husband and brother found out, they brutally attacked and murdered the 14-year-old boy. Till's mother received the unrecognizable body and decided to have an open-casket funeral to show the nation what happened to her son. -
