1 janv. 1674 - Anton van Leeuwenhoek First microscope

Description:

"The Father of Microscopy" was Holland Anton van Leeuwenhoek. He started as an apprentice in a dry goods store, inspecting the quality of cloth with magnifying lenses. The lenses intrigued Van Leeuwenhoek, who experimented with new methods for grinding and polishing more powerful lenses. He was able to magnify objects up to 270 times their original size. These were utilized to make the first workable microscopes. He was the first to see bacteria (1674), yeast, protozoa, sperm cells, and red blood cells using his inventions.
