the British parliament passed the sugar act. england started to tax the colonist three pence per pound of sugar. 3 pence was not much money bit the colonist still got angry.
this act was the first direct tax parliaments imposed on the American colonies.
the colonist argued them a voice or vote in the parliament>"no taxation without representative?" was a new phrase cheard through out the colony
