Description:
The end to the Civil War took place in a Virgina town called Appomattox Court House. Lee and
Grant met at a private home to arrange a Confederate surrender. The terms stated that Grant paroled Lee’s soldiers and sent them
home with their possessions and three days’ worth of rations and officers were
permitted to keep their side arms. The surrender at Appomattox marked the Union victorious.
