at this point in time, somewhere around varos, there's a witch king, trystas the conqueror, starts massacreing his way through the south, making a lot of people very angry
he believed in witch supremacy since they were much more powerful than mere ordinary humans
one day he has all the non-magical people in his city gathered and brought to the main square where he orders his soldiers to slit their throats
when asked why he didn't have them killed using some kind of magic, he supposedly laughed and said that he could kill them by magic or with a knife but they could only kill him with a knife


Varosian fae lead a massacre of wielders and witches, and Trystas the Conqueror in turn massacres them, chasing them north to Caledoan, and his son, Trystas the Peacemaker, makes magic illegal for anyone not rich or part of the cleric. Many magic folk thus escape North to avoid persecution.
