22 juill. 1764 - The Sugar Act

Description:

The Sugar Act was the first direct tax on the colonies. The British required the colonies to pay three pence per pound of sugar which angered the colonists. England claimed that it was to pay for the French and Indian war. The colonists were made because they had no representation in parliament so they started saying " No taxation without representation".
