23 nov 1146 - The Second Crusade
The second crusade was led by King Louis VII of France and King Conrad III of Germany. They failed to recapture Edessa which had been lost to the Muslims in 1144. It was summoned by the Pope to defeat the Muslims who were still threatening to retake the Holy Lands.
