Description:

William Jennings Bryan gave his famous "Cross of Gold" speech at the National Democratic Convention. Bryan's speech opposed the gold standard by stating, "You shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold!" This won him the Populist nomination. The new urban and industrial order won over the agrarian vision of Bryan and the Populist.
