In Paris The United States, South Vietnam, Viet Cong, and North Vietnam formally sign “An Agreement Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam.” The agreement included a cease-fire throughout Vietnam and withdrawal of U.S. troops. And the North Vietnamese agreed to release all U.S. and other prisoners of war.
This Accord was the ending point for all sides involved in the war. The DMZ at the 17th Parallel would remain a provisional dividing line until they reunified the country peacefully. North Vietnamese also stated that they would apply no force trying to reunify the country.
