16 mars 1968 - My Lai Massacre

Description:

The tiny village of My Lai in the Quang Ngai Province was the victim of American soldiers (Charlie Company) who raped and killed 504 people that day. The men were notified that guerrillas had taken control of the neighboring village of Son My so they had to kill them. William Calley thought that all the people in that area were loyal to the guerrillas, so he tore up the villages and ordered his men to kill them all.

Knowing that this would cause a scandal, they covered it up. In November 1969, Ron Ridenhour, a soldier in the 11th Brigade, revealed all the information regarding this event, and this lowered the moral of soldiers in Vietnam and divided the United States over the Vietnam War.
