9 avr. 1866 - Enactment of Civil Rights Bill of 1866
Description:
The first of federal to define citizenship, as all people born in the U.S and say all citizens are equally protected by the law. It was a landmark decision in the Supreme Court. President Johnson was against it, but Congress overrode his veto. The bill helped at least attempt to integrate former slaves into the U.S as actual citizens.
