Mexican Cavalry attacked a group of US soldiers in the Dispute zone under the command of General Zachary Taylor killing about a dozen then laid Siege a american fort along the Rio Grande and Taylor called in reinforcements and defeated the Mexicans. Pulk told the US congress that "The cup of forbearance had been exhausted, even before Mexico passed the boundary of the united states, invaded out territory and shed American blood upon american soil."
