Manifest destiny was the term used in order to express the American believes by American citizens that the land of North America was theirs by right, Specifically through God. It was used as justification in order to encroach upon native lands to the west and the general industrialization of North America because of the increase in population that the United States was experiencing. Many anti-slavery American citizens and politicians disliked the Idea of manifest destiny because it promoted an institution of slavery And the trampling of other cultures for the benefit of the United States.
