1 janv. 1896 - Plessy v. Ferguson

Description:

The Supreme Court held that Jim Cow legislation was legal and did not violate the 14th amendment, as long as states provided separate but equal facilities to black and whites. In reality, in the south blacks were just given separate accommodations and they were not equal. In fact from 1884 to 1900 1,700 African Americans were lynched in the South.
