4 janv. 1862 - Modernizing Northern Society: The Homestead Act
Description:
This act lasted 5 years and it was that people were granted 160 acres of Great Plain lands and this would force 500,000 families to move into the Great Plains. The problem was the climate of the Great Plains and it was difficult to plant with little water and wood. With barbed wire, cells would be dug and dry farming would solve the lack of wood. This process was called de-farm.
