While Gondul was grabbing a drink at an inn in Davon's Watch, he stumbled upon a peculiar Altmer Mage. The two spoke briefly, Gondul asking him about the natures of the Dominion — information he was willing to give seeing as he had forsaken it.

They also spoke about whether or not he could transfer a soul from a black soul gem back into the body of its original host. He explained to Gondul with a heavy heart that he did not have the knowledge necessary to perform such a task, Gondul's heart breaking in many pieces.

After learning more about one another and knowing allies were sorely needed, Gondul recruited the Altmer into the Ruby Brotherband.

After Kotour's recruitment, lightning struck within Gondul's mind. Vignar was a werewolf — perhaps he could use this in a way to aid in recovering Rowena's Soul. He quickly left the inn, mounted Hjalti and rode for Blackmarsh to meet with Vignar.
