In 1997, John Kricfalusi, creator of The Ren and Stimpy Show created The Goddamn George Liquor Program, the first ever flash animated cartoon made specifically for the internet. (Simpson, 2007). Other flash cartoons followed such as Whirlgirl, which was the first regularly scheduled Flash animated web series. The show aired exclusively on the Showtime website. (Amid, 1999).
