Description:
Johnson vetoed a bill that increased the services offered by Freedmen’s Bureau and a bill that nullified the Black Codes. He also vetoed a bill that guaranteed African American Rights. This marked the end of the first round of the reconstruction. Presidents Lincoln and Johnson brought back the former confederate states to the Union. Southern States began to pass black codes and ex confederates returned to high offices.
