16 nov 1990 - Walt Disney Feature Animation releases The Rescuers Down Under (1990)
Description:
It was the first animated film to be animated using the Computer Animation Production System, or CAPS, which used digital ink and paint. The system gave the filmmakers new freedoms with colouring and as well as add depth and more complex camera work for shots (Taylor, 2020). While The Rescuers Down Under would end up faltering at the Box Office, its pioneering use of CAPS would lay the groundwork for Disney’s later successes like The Lion King and Beauty and The Beast. CAPS would see use up until the early 2000s, when Disney began to focus solely on 3D animation.
