Description:
A policy created by the Soviet Union. It states that a threat to any socialist country was a threat to socialism itself, and thus justified the intervention of other socialist countries.
Significance: The Brezhnev Doctrine was to the Soviets as the Truman Doctrine was to America. The Soviets declared that they were ready to fight back if the spread of socialism was threatened.
