1 déc. 1924 - Scopes Trial
Description:
Fundamentalism and the Scopes Trial (POL, CUL) – Although there are still problems today separating religion from public schools, one of the biggest public legal fights was the scopes trial in 1925. It had been outlawed in the state of Tennessee for teachers to teach human evolution in their classrooms but high school teacher John scopes taught it to his high school class. The case, called the scopes trial, was taken to a national level and coverage of the child reached everywhere. It was a fight between southern fundamentalism and northern modernism. It was another front for the North and South to fight on.
