1 janv. 1839 - Trail of Tears
Description:
In his continued quest to take over Indian lands, President Jackson forced 15,000 Cherokee to march from Georgia to west of the Mississippi River. The U.S. military did not plan well for this trek, and thousands of Cherokee died due to lack of food, water, and disease. Therefore, Jackson succeeded in his plans for the forcible removal, which were then continued throughout the 19th century.
