Description:

When Jackson was elected president he continued the policy of forcibly removing Indians often on the basis of fraudulent treaties in the 1820s. With his support, Congress passed the Indian Removal Act and Indians in the East were forced to exchange their land for territory west of Mississippi. The significance of this was it set the precedent military conflict to remove Indians and started the Second Seminole War.
