29 févr. 1968 - Kerner Commission Report

Description:

In 1967, President Lyndon B. Johnson established a special commission of 11 people, the Kerner Commission, who analyzed the primary causes of racism and the trends towards violence and rioting. In 1968, the commission released its report, condemning racism as "the primary cause of the recent surge of violence" in the nation and declaring that "our nation is moving toward two societies, one black, one white—separate and unequal”. In order to stop this, the commission demanded the expansion of economic aid for African American communities.
