According to Golik's diary, during the whole of January the army reconnaissance never ceased to
function even when the nucleus of the Insurgent Army had shrunk
to 30 people. In particular, contact between the remnants of Makh-
novist groups and units was maintained by the surviving agents of
the Kontrrazvedka.
