On April 14, 1865, Abraham Lincoln and his wife Mary Todd Lincoln went to see a play at Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C. John Wilkes Booth, a famous actor and a Confederate, assassinated Lincoln during the play. John Wilkes Booth soon fled on horseback to southern Maryland, and Virgina later.
