Description:
The Indian Removal Act was signed by President Andrew Jackson on May 28th, 1830. This act permitted the U.S. government to move the tribes from the East into the lands west of the Mississippi River. The signing led to forced expulsion of tens of thousands of American Indians from their land into the West in an event known as the “Trail of Tears”. It also led to the Second Seminole War, lasting from 1835 to 1842.
