1 août 1939 - The Nazi-Soviet Pact
Description:
The USSR and Germany had been known for having extremely different leading ideologies, fascism and communism. The rest of Europe was confused as the pact was formed and why it was even needed. This pact, being a nonaggression pact, declared that both sides would refrain from attacking each other. This was later proven to mainly be an opportunity for both Germany and the USSR to invade Poland and allow Russia to gain control of Eastern Europe. As soon as Germany began its invasion of Poland, Britain and France declared war on Germany two days later.
