29 déc. 1864 - Passage of "Black Codes"

Description:

Southern states began passing laws titled "Black Codes" meant to try to limit as many freedoms as possible for African Americans. This resulted in many African Americans not being able to enjoy their new found freedom showing how southern states were not willing to let their racism go despite their defeat.
