The Battle of Okinawa was the last major battle of WW2. The invasion was part of Operation Iceberg, a Allied plank to take the Ryukyu Islands. It resulted in an Allied victory, but both sides sustained major casualties. Japans Kamikaze pilots took many American lives during the invasion.
