Description:
On December 18 1860, Kentucky Senator John J. Crittenden introduced a compromise to the legislatures to try and resolve the succession that occurred with the south and prevent the civil war from occurring. In the compromise they would create six amendments and four resolutions. The amendments made it so the south would not be able to have slaves, get runaway slaves, and restored the Missouri compromise line. Even with a lot of support on the compromise, congress in the end decided to not enact it.
