Description:
The tension between the North and the South continues, even after Missouri’s admission as a slave state. The South was angered by the Tallmadge Amendment because it freed the children born to slaves and prohibited slaves from being brought into Missouri. The South did not like the Tallmadge Amendment because they believed it favored the North and destroyed the free and slave state balance. National tensions increase as the North continues threatens the expansion slavery. The Tallmadge Amendment increased the tension because Southerners felt that it would influence the states surrounding Missouri.
