1 janv. 975 - The transcription of Beowulf

Description:

Between ~975 and 1000, Beowulf was written down by two monks in West Mercia -- now part of the Western Midlands of England. It was part of a collection of stories now known as the Nowell Codex. This is the only surviving recounting of the tale from a primary source. The first monk wrote the first 1939 lines, taking meticulous care to check his syntax rid the poem of any grammatical errors. The second monk took over after the first stopped mid-sentence, and was far more hasty and careless, resulting in many inconsistencies.
