Description:
In 1884, supporters of Japan overthrew Korea’s government briefl y in a coupd’état. A counter-coup was launched against this new government and
supported by Chinese troops. It was clear to other states that Korea was
unable to defend itself from other countries and, in 1885, Britain took control
of a Korean port city.
