1 janv. 1745 - "Leyden Jar" - 1745 AD

Description:

This was the world's first capacitor, a device that can store electrical energy, created by a cleric and a scientist in Leyden, Netherlands. It was a glass jar filled partially with water and a metal rod poking through the lid and touching the water. Later, foil was wrapped on the inside and outside of the jar to increase conductivity. After the announcement of the Leyden Jar, many scientists started conducting their own experiments trying to mainly increase the charge. Early Leyden Jars were estimated to charge up to 60,000 volts.
