Several days after Gondul had received the letter from an Anonymous Mage in Cyrodiil, he ordered a meeting at Bleakrock with Gudrune and J'Shearra personally. He arrived and the three conversed for a short while.

When Gudrune asked about how Rowena was fairing within the Mages Guild, Gondul shook his head, handing her the letter he had received. Gudrune was furious with him, asking him why he had not acted in any way to try and attempt to save Rowena.

Split between his personal duties and his duty to the Brotherband, Gondul also became infuriated. He attempted to explain that he was now a part of the War that was knocking at their doorstep, and that he did not have the luxury to abandon his duties any longer, as much as he wished he could.

Gondul left the meeting place and took a moment to calm himself on the beaches of Bleakrock, where he allowed himself to cry over his fallen brothers — feeling he had a responsibility to attend to, regardless of his personal life — but was nevertheless torn over what he should do.

Meanwhile, Gudrune and J'Shearra spoke of possible ways to extract a soul from a soul gem and place it into another's body, if necessary.

Not long after, Gondul rode for the docks to sail back to the mainlands — but not before Gudrune intercepted him. Angered, she exclaimed that if he would not save his fallen comrade, she would, demanding he give her Rowena's Soul gem.

He declined. She continued demanding it and, in momentary fit of rage, choosing his duty over his personal life, Gondul threw it her way. When she caught it, however, she pulled her hand back in pain as it fell into the snow.

It appeared that, for whatever reason, she was incapable of holding it. Gondul retrieved it, ordering Gudrune to dismount — proceeding to discharge her from the Brotherband.
