1 janv. 1830 - Indian Removal Act 1830
Description:
Reasons for Indian Removal Act:
1. Many Americans wanted to take over the Indian land to farm and attempt to find Gold they thought was in the area.
2. Many Americans thought the Natives were uncivilized, due to their "primitive" ways of life. They wanted to irradicate this "unsightly" lifestyle.
3. American Indian tribes could not maintain their own Independent Governments while living in the U.S. White Americans thought it would be easy to take over the settlements themselves.
(Worcester v Georgia: Chief Justice John Marshall ruled in favor of the Cherokees but...Jackson did not intend to carry out the court’s ruling)
