1 janv. 1890 - Battle of Wounded Knee (Ghost Dance)

Description:

By 1889 Sioux Indians had gathered at Wounded Knee on the Pine Ridge Reservation to participate in the Ghost Dance. The Indians believed that by practicing the ghost dance and rejecting the ways of the white men the world be created anew, and all non believes destroyed. U.S Army's 7th Calvary in 1890 surrounded a band of ghost dancers and told them to surrender their weapons. A massacre then broke out in which 150 or by some accounts 300 Indians had been killed mostly women and children.
