Believing King Jorunn was in danger after what Gondul had uncovered, Thane Harvald asked Gondul to proceed with Lord Vurlop to protect the him.

Gondul requested reinforcements to come with him, but Harvald expressed reassurance that the King already had adequate personal protection, and that Gondul and Lord Vurlop was enough.

Upon arriving at the nearby gate entrance, Lord Vurlop confronted Gondul, revealing himself to be an undercover Stormfist. He explained that he had sent Gondul to trail Commander Yjarnn and Marla in order to get him killed, but Gondul bested them. Then, after attempting to use Gondul to sabotage Prince Irnskar, Gondul nevertheless brought the Pact together.

Before Vurlop could attack Gondul, he was flanked by Naryu Virian. He begged for his life, claiming that King Jorunn was still alive and that he could still help Naryu and Gondul. Regardless, Naryu killed Vurlop.

Naryu explained she had been tracking a Breton illusionist named Dahlen for awhile, and that he took a contract from Fildgor to kill King Jorunn.

They briefly parted ways and Gondul entered the walls of the keep, confronting multiple Stormfist soldiers inside. In the midst of combat, a dark anchor plunged itself in the ground close by, to which Gondul proceeded to push back single handedly despite the urgency of his mission.

After entering the keep, Gondul reunited with Naryu. With no sight of the King, they began looking for a way into two secured doors which he likely was behind. After finally recovering the hidden key, Gondul entered one of the rooms only to find an apparition of King Jorunn.

The apparition revealed itself to be Dahlen, who was using magic to impersonate the King. He explained that Fildgor had poisoned the true King Jorunn, and that he would proceed to impersonate the King after pretending to have been killed by him.
