Kinston had open heart surgery to repair several heart defects. The main one being the pulmonary valve stenosis. When the cardiac surgeon closed his enlarged PDA the first time, it was so large that he was not able close it completely. So, that was one of the several issues they addressed during the surgery. The surgeon also corrected a few other minor issues during that time as well. After surgery, Kinston started the recovery process in the PICU (Pediatric ICU). We missed our decorated NICU room and family but in the PICU we had a private bathroom, a TV, and a window. The window was the best part! We were finally able to see what Kinston looked like in natural sunlight. The picture below is one of my favorite pictures of him. The sun in shining behind him and he looks so peaceful.
