1 janv. 1857 - Dred Scott V. Sanford

Description:

The case backfired on them as the Supreme Court ruled that Congress had no power to prohibit slavery in federal territories and that since slaves were "property", they were not allowed to sue in court in the first place. As the case decreased the power pf the congress to regulate the spread of slavery, it increased the power of states in the area of slavery and where it was allowed to exist.
