- He was the first person to identify that DNA was a distinct molecule.
- He used a white blood cell as they were individual cells and easy for him to obtain.
- Miescher's discovery pathed the way for American biochemist Phoebus Levene's discovery of deoxyribose sugar.
- Miescher passed away in 1895, 26 years after his amazing discovery.
