Patented in 1769, by Richard Arkwright based on a design by John Kay, the Water Frame is a water powered spinning frame that is able to spin ninety-six threads at once. The big advantage of the Water Frame over the Spinning Jenny was that it could spin much stronger thread that could be used in all parts of looms.
