----Summary---- The Primary Souce is a letter from President Andrew Jackson to Vice-President Martin Van Buren. Jackson tells Van Buren that he is holding firm and refuses to give in to South Carolina's defiance. He believes that giving in to South Carolina will weaken the government and the US image in the eyes of other countries.
