Shoukhrat Mitalipov and other scientists took cells from an adult monkey and fused it with an egg cell. It was allowed to develop, then put in a dish.

Researchers had tried for years to show that nuclear transfer in a primate was possible and it opened the door of human cloning. They want to create individual-specific stem cells to treat/study diseases.
