1 déc. 1807 - Embargo Act (1807)
Description:
As political tensions built between England and France, each country set taxes against the other in a cold war between their countries. Hoping to hurt the British, Thomas Jefferson issued the Embargo Act which was a failure in itself. Instead of hurting the British as it cut off American Ports from them, it only allowed France and Britain to raise their own taxes on American goods.
