The Twelve Tables, or Lex XII Tabilarum, is the earliest written laws of the Romans (traditionally dated 151-450 BC). The Lex XII Tabilarum was written by 10 decemvirs at the insistence of the plebeians. Starting in 451 the first set 10 of tables where written, later being introduced to two more tables.
