1 janv. 1854 - The Kansas-Nebraska Act

Description:

The Kansas-Nebraska Act was the formation of two territories, Kansas and Nebraska, to create a railroad from Chicago to California. Senator Stephen A. Douglas wanted to extinguish native American rights on the great plains to build this rail road and this created a bunch of controversy. This led to the Civil war because the laws about slavery were not yet decided and there were heavy debates about why the territories should be free or slave states.
